A very fine Ohira uchigumori jito — karasu throughout, colourful, and unusually easy to live with.

Iron clad, wrought iron and tamahagane are where it shines: every detail lifted, high contrast held against the semi-mirror core.

On honyaki it leaves the hagane clean, which is exactly where you want it. What follows isn't a correction, only a brightness lift — a softer uchigumori (hato) or finger stones for the hagane, a light pass of Zero for the jigane — and you're essentially there. On the jigane, this uchigumori reveals rich micro contrasts.

Notes from use — Harder than most uchigumori stones, but nothing about it feels like a hard stone: just a smooth, friendly slide. The slurry goes pitch black in very little time, and a short soak helps it along. Totally pure under the blade — no surprises anywhere on the face.
