The core reaches a gentle semi-mirror, and the two sit together in a soft, even contrast — a calm, luminous finish rather than a loud one, helped by that clean, even surface with nothing to disturb it. Soft in the hand, about the density of a typical uchigumori (2,52), it's forgiving to work on and quick to give slurry — which is also why it sharpens so well. And at a comfortable full size, there's room for easy, unhurried strokes and years of use ahead of it.
One honest limit: like most fine finishers, it isn't hazy enough for a honyaki core — a large hard surface wants a stone that breaks the light more than this one does. Keep it for clad and wrought iron, where it's fully at home.
