KREAM — Detail

Used as a final step, after KREAM Haze or fine finger stones. Enhances surface detail and reveals the fine activity within the steel. Oil-based — it doesn't evaporate, so the blade stays protected through a long session.

Applied with the finger until the grain is no longer felt; for more effect, a cotton pad and a single small drop of oil (any food-grade) reduces haze and lifts detail further. One syringe goes a long way. The effect builds gradually — the most rewarding product in the range for anyone willing to work with it. Between passes, rinse the blade with dish soap under warm-to-hot water — the heat matters, as it's what lifts the fat-based film cleanly — and dry it before checking the surface, so you read the true finish rather than a wet sheen. Unlike the haze grades, KREAM Detail reaches the core as well as the cladding, so its card shows all four numbers, nothing greyed.

Two finishes show its range on the same blade. Worked lightly over a Zero base without oil, it lifts detail while leaving a soft, bright cladding over a still-gentle core — the milky stage. Carried through several passes, it draws the whole blade toward mirror, the cladding tightening and darkening as it goes.

Works on both clad and honyaki, and rewards careful surface preparation.
