197× 69 × 20 mm
A collector-grade Maruichi from the Tomae layer at Nakayama: a dense, hard stone with exceptionally fine grain.
It brings the core to an almost full mirror and the clad to a bright, hazy semi-mirror — exceptional contrast in both tone and texture, with a level of micro-detail that is difficult to find elsewhere.
It works best with an active slurry; once understood, the results are consistent and very refined. Supplied with a tomo nagura of the same hardness and grain.
